Quercus
aff. dentata. Ming Tombs
oak.
We collected our
acorns at the Ming Tombs outside Beijing in September 1999. The craggy parent trees
are towering. The broad leaves of our plants have an undulate-serrated margin
and are already as long as your forearm. In autumn the
color is wonderful, as you can see. Zone 5
for sure.
Pot (2 gal. / 12"). In Canada C$20.00; elsewhere
US$18.00.

Rosa
soulieana Crép. This sweet-scented rose with
huge thorns produces masses of creamy flowers in June-July. It is also noted for its leaves, which retain raspberry tints on
a turquoise-grey base for most of the growing year. Its true form is an arching
mound to 3m (10') tall or more, most suited to a meadow. With pruning it will arch
over a gate or wall. Native to northwestern China, it is named for the
French Jesuit Père Soulie, who collected it in Sichuan Province in 1896.
We offer cuttings from a mother plant grown from wild Chinese seeds.
In Canada C$15.00; elsewhere US$13.75.

Rubus
chamaemorus
Linnaeus. Cloudberry. Demand for this plant has far exceeded
our supply. We are growing more. We can't predict when they will be
available, or the price, and our waiting list is now so long that, with
regret, we cannot add to it.

Rubus
leucodermis Douglas
ex Torr. & A. Gray. Blackcap
raspberry. This has wiry, arching, glaucous canes that on
account of their bloom look turquoise-blue. If you like fountain-form rose
bushes, try this one as an ornamental. The berries are delicious,
too.
