Lewisia
tweedyi, surely one of the world's most beautiful rock plants,
grows wild on a few mountains in the Pacific Northwest of N America. |

Arisaema
serratum is one of our favorite tall perennials: ideal as the
middle storey in part shade and too stout to require staking.

Allium
flavum
subsp. tauricum 'Canteloupe'
is a gorgeous,
late-summer bulb selected by our friend Mark McDonough, the Allium Man.

Crocus
dalmaticus Petrovac Strain is one of the most floriferous and
reliable spring bulbs for sun that we have met. |

Lilium
canadense var. coccineum is a flame-colored
form of a
lily native to E North America. There's something primal about it. People
crave it on sight. We have had to establish a waiting list for
blooming-size bulbs. The wait is about two years. But what a beauty! |

Xerophyllum
tenax, or bear grass, is a tall lily cousin native to W North
America. It's not difficult to grow. Ignore any mutterings you encounter
and follow our instructions. Our mother plants, grown from wild seeds,
keep making offsets, and we are happy to report crowds of pups around them
so large that weeding is required. |

Rhododendron
quinquefolium,
one of the most desirable deciduous
rhododendrons, is native to Japan. Here it is in fall color. This year we are finally
able to shorten the waiting list of connoisseurs who've been pining for it.

Epimedium
grandiflorum 'Purple Prince'
may be the deepest-purple grandiflorum
cultivar. It is certainly the epimedium in our garden that
turns the most heads. |

Soldanella
villosa, all mauve eyelashes, is related to Primula
and is the easiest Soldanella to grow. It is specially dear to us because we received it from the late Vera
Peck.
