Antenoron filiforme  (Thunberg) Roberty & Vautier. 金线草 Jin xian cao (Chinese); ミズヒキ Mizuhiki (Japanese). Sometimes called Polygonum or Persicaria. Striking wands of small red flowers (sometimes pink and red) rise 50-80 cm (20-32") in late summer through autumn. Use this plant for cross-hatching or exclamation marks, both in the border and the rock garden. Some taxonomists make it native to both E Asia and E North America; others confine it to E Asia. Our stock is of Japanese origin. Zone 5, perhaps colder.

4" pot or rhizome. In Canada, C$6.00; elsewhere US$5.50.
