Achillea millefolium
Linnaeus. Yarrow.
This old-fashioned garden favorite is often used in restoration projects,
too, for it grows happily in dry, gravelly places. Its aromatic, finely
dissected, fernlike leaves clothe a stalk 30-80 cm (12-32") tall.
Clusters of creamy composite flowers ~ please click on the photograph at
left ~ bloom in midsummer and last into fall, providing nectar for Painted
Lady butterflies, among others. Yarrow is circumboreal and has been used
in many folk medicines. It dries well for winter bouquets. We usually have a few
pots of Yarrow at the nursery, but if you want it in
quantity, please talk to us about contract
growing. Zone 2.
Pot 10 cm / 4". In Canada C$4.00. Elsewhere
US$3.75.
