ORNITHOGALUM Hyacinthaceae
(Hyacinth family).
We offer two very choice dwarf species. Indulge! Ours are not among the
weedy, bulbiliferous Ornithogalums. They will be happy in pots and in the
rock garden.

Ornithogalum chionophilum Holmboe. This charming
dwarf is a local endemic, rare in cultivation. The pure white flowers
bloom in April-May. Our plants descend from bulbs collected by Dr.
R.D. Meikle and B. Tafall in the Troodos Range on Cyprus in 1976. Height
5-8 cm (2-3"). Zone 6.

Ornithogalum sintenisii Freyn. Racemes of 15-25 starry flowers
bloom in March-April, snow-white with a deep green stripe on the reverse.
Native to the Caspian Sea region. Our plants descend from bulbs collected by
Jánis Rukšáns
in 1987 in the Talysh Range of Azerbaijan. The slender leaves are up to15 cm
(6") long. Height 6-10 cm (2.5-4"). Zone 6 (5?).
