Eminium
rauwolffii (Blume) Schott subsp. rauwolffii. Emerging to bloom in April-May,
this beautiful aroid has a dark, almost black spadix and a rumpled spathe that is chalky green on the outside and
dark velvet, almost black, within. Its lanceolate leaves are dark green,
10-15 cm (4-6") long and 1-3 cm (˝ -1") wide. This striking
plant is native to dry E and S Turkey and the Syrian desert. If planted
shallowly, the tuber produces a long, contractile root to pull itself
deeper into the soil. Our stock descends from material collected by Vladimír
Vašák
in Turkey's Adiyaman province in 1992. Height 15-20 cm (6-8"). For
most admirers, this
is a prize for the cold frame or glass house. Zone 8? Tuber
(Fall shipping only). $33.00 |
