These
beautiful midsummer-blooming corms are native to
west-coast North America. They are adapted to fairly dry meadows and do well
in the rock garden. Many species formerly called Brodiaea are
now called Triteleia. Those still called Brodiaea have narrower umbels of fewer flowers
that usually have 3 fertile stamens and 3 infertile staminodes. |

Brodiaea elegans Hoover. Elegant
brodiaea. This does well here in wet Zone 6 given gravelly,
porous soil and sun. Our swallowtail butterflies dote on it and we do get
seeds. But because we aren't sure about crossing with other Brodiaea and
Triteleia species, we offer
only corms from wild seeds and their offsets.
Bulb (Fall shipping only). $2.50
